Hi, I’m Jeanan Hyat
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Life Coach. Welcome to my counseling page, I’m happy that you’re here!

What Can You Expect From Me?
I have been working as a counselor since 2020 and have learned that not one approach fits all. For each client, I take the time to get to know their innermost thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns that could potentially be unhelpful for the life they wish to be living.
With this knowledge, I use a tailored approach to create a session space that is welcoming and judgement-free. I want my clients to feel safe with the knowledge that they will be received with compassion and empathy for who they are.

Approaches
With the use of intervention strategies from Gestalt, my individual counseling clients will feel comfortable and capable of coming ‘face-to-face’ with their trauma and patterns as they begin to work towards a more fulfilling lifestyle.
What is Gestalt?
A direct approach to identifying inconsistencies and unhelpful patterns that could be preventing inner growth and deepening relationships. Through this trauma-focused perspective, clients can expect to be challenged (gently and appropriately) on:
- their self-limiting beliefs,
- their roles in their relationships,
- and previous/current emotional experiences.
The ultimate goal of Gestalt therapy is to live an authentic lifestyle that encourages continued growth and happiness.

When working with my coaching clients, I approach each conversation with the intent to learn where my clients would like to see change. Using a a Solution-Focused approach, I help my clients identify tangible goals that will bring them closer to their full potential.
What is Solution-Focused Coaching?
In a solution-focused perspective, my coaching clients and I are able to describe the life they want to work towards. I lean on my counseling background to encourage my clients to explore their obstacles that prevent them from achieving their goals and address them as they arise. We create goals that fit their lifestyle and identify small changes that can feel achievable while still challenging to encourage growth and motivation.

In my couples work, I use my skillset to create a space that is kind and open for couples to come in with their most vulnerable self so that they may begin the work for a better relationship with their partner. Using my certifications in Level 1 Gottman and Emotion-Focused Therapy, I have found success in helping my couples identify their relationship wounds and encouraging repair, resulting in more effective communication and increased connection.
What is Gottman & Emotion-Focused Therapy?
Attachment-based theories that look at our relationships in subsections. These subsections include:
- emotional expressions
- bids
- conflict management
- conflict resolution
- as well as communication patterns.
The ultimate goal of these attachment-based theories is to identify and feel empowered as a couple to make the changes they wish to see in their relationship.
